Professional Standards

At Glosna House, we work with a diverse team of therapists at different stages of professional development, all supported within an ethical, supervised and professional clinical framework.

In Ireland, counselling and psychotherapy are currently largely self-regulated professions while national regulation through CORU continues to develop. As a result, therapists typically become members of professional accrediting bodies which set standards around training, supervision, ethics, personal therapy, ongoing professional development and clinical practice.

Different accrediting bodies may have different training pathways and requirements. All therapists working within Glosna House are required to work within clear ethical and professional standards appropriate to their level of training and accreditation.

Health Insurance & Psychotherapy Sessions

Many private health insurance providers contribute toward counselling and psychotherapy sessions depending on an individual’s policy and level of cover.

As policies and criteria vary between providers and plans, we always recommend that clients contact their health insurance provider directly to confirm:

  • whether their policy includes counselling or psychotherapy cover

  • how many sessions are covered annually

  • what percentage of fees may be reimbursed

  • what accreditation criteria apply under their individual policy

Recognition criteria can vary depending on:

  • the therapist’s accreditation status

  • the professional body they are affiliated with

  • and the client’s individual insurance policy

Glosna House is happy to provide receipts for attended sessions where applicable.
