Darren Reid, MSc Psychotherapy, MIACP, SIACP
Accredited Psychotherapist and Clinical Supervisor
I’m Darren Reid, an accredited psychotherapist with the Irish Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (IACP). I have over 10 years of experience working with teenagers, young adults and their families, offering them a safe and supportive space to navigate the challenges of adolescence.
With a Master’s degree in Psychotherapy, my career has focused on working with young people in various settings, including University College Dublin (UCD) and Youthreach. At UCD, I helped students manage the pressures of higher education, supporting them through transitions and mental health challenges. My work with Youthreach involved providing guidance to young people outside the traditional educational system. Both roles reinforced my passion for helping young people unlock their potential and build emotional resilience.
In my practice, I use a blend of therapeutic approaches, including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Person-Centred Therapy and Solution-Focused Therapy. Each teenager or young adult is unique, so I tailor my approach to meet their individual needs, whether they are dealing with anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, educational challenges or difficulties in social settings and personal relationships. My goal is to empower them with practical tools and coping strategies that foster personal growth and emotional wellbeing, not just for now but for life.
Where possible and appropriate, I also involve parents or guardians in the therapeutic process. I believe that collaboration with families can be essential in supporting an adolescent’s progress, helping to create a supportive environment both inside and outside the therapy room.
In addition to my work as a therapist, I am a clinical supervisor, supporting other therapists in their professional development. This role allows me to contribute to maintaining high standards in the field and continue evolving in my own practice.
Here at Glosna, I am dedicated to supporting teenagers / young adults and their families through the ups and downs of adolescence.
