Deep Tissue Massage 1 hour treatment €50

Deep tissue massage is a type of massage therapy that focuses on realigning deeper layers of muscles and connective tissue. It is especially helpful for chronically tense and contracted areas such as stiff necks, lower back tightness, and sore shoulders. Deep tissue massage works by physically breaking down these adhesions to relieve pain and restore normal movement. To do this, the massage therapist  uses direct deep pressure or friction applied across the grain of the muscles. When muscles are stressed, they block oxygen and nutrients, leading to inflammation that builds up toxins in the muscle tissue. A deep-tissue massage helps loosen tight muscle tissues, release toxins from muscles and get blood and oxygen circulating properly. Because many toxins are released, it's important to drink plenty of water after a deep-tissue session to help eliminate these toxins from the body.

Reflexology is a science that deals with the principle that there are reflex areas in the feet and hands that correspond to all of the glands, organs and parts of the body.Reflexology is the practice of applying pressure to the feet and hands utilizing specific thumb, finger and hand techniques, which is based on a system of zones, and reflex areas that reflect an image of the body on the feet. People often mistake it for a foot massage but the ancient art of Reflexology is much more than just that.

Did you know that there are 7000 nerve endings in your feet? During a Reflexology session a therapist access those nerve endings, or reflexes as we call them. These nerve endings are linked to every organ and system in the body. Through skilful manipulation, a therapist can unblock the flow of energy in organs and rebalance entire systems. The Chinese call this energyQi. During a treatment the feet are used in preference to the hands as the area on the feet is larger and easier to manage, but in some cases where that is not possible the hands can be worked on to give Reflexology.

Lymphatic Drainage Massage 2 hour treatment €85
.
Within us all there is a silent system working to keep us healthy- the lymphatic system. Without it our bodies would swell up like balloons, swamping our cells with stagnant fluid. The lymphatic system’s impact is so far reaching that many don’t even realize that minor aches and pains, low energy or susceptibility to colds and flu may be due to a sluggish lymph system and a compromised immune system.

Lymphatic Drainage Massage is a profound technique to help increase lymph flow. With an increase of lymph flow immune function is increased. Harmful substances are removed from the tissues and neutralized in the nodes. It has also been shown that an increase in lymph flow stimulates an increased production of lymphocytes- enhancing immune function.

Lymphatic drainage massage can be applied to clients who are suffering from a lack of energy, sluggish immune system and minor oedema. It’s also excellent at helping to reduce stress due to its slow relaxing strokes. It is not recommended for anyone with chronic or medical oedema as these require a specific manual drainage with compression bandages etc.
.
Lymphatic drainage massage is also useful when working with clients who have sports injuries. After the initial inflammatory stage has passed, lymphatic work can be applied after Sports or neuromuscular massage has been completed. This will help to clear the tissue of debris, and help to reduce the minor oedema that sometimes occurs after deep massage. Continued applications of lymphatic drainage while the client is healing can help to enhance the tissue regeneration process by keep the tissue as healthy as possible.
.
lymphatic drainage can also help scars. Lymph work has been shown to help the scarring process by enhancing circulation and immunity. As the lymph flow around the scar is increased, lymph vessels that have been damaged are stimulated to heal, and the increased lymph flow also draws away toxins, improving the health of the tissues.
.
Lymphatic drainage massage has been used for years to enhance the quality of the skin, especially on the face. When the lymph is flowing, the cells are being bathed in fresh fluid, causing the skin to look fresh and alive. We have all experienced having minor oedema in our faces- that puffy feeling and baggy eyes when we first wake in the morning after a long night. Usually after a few minutes of being vertical the lymph system starts to drain the face. A great way to see the power of lymph drainage is to apply a few strokes on one of those mornings, and watch in just a few minutes the tissues drain right before your eyes- leaving you looking vibrant and healthy

Sports Massage with Gait Analysis 1 hour treatment €55 (with Claire McEvoy)

Sports massage is ideal to treat injuries as well as being a preventative treatment dealing with the health of muscle and connective tissue, range of movement, tone, symmetry, balance of muscle and quality of posture.
Gait is the way in which we move our whole body from one point to another. Gait analysis is a method used to assess the way we walk or run to highlight biomechanical abnormalities. Claire uses Gait Analysis in her initial assessment to help ascertain the cause of problems and pain, and to help determine the right course of treatment for each individual. In general, it involves looking at the way that you move, looking in particular at your feet, ankles, knees and hips.
Sports Massage helps prepare the athlete for peak performance, increases blood circulation and lymph flow; drains away fatigue, relieves swelling, reduces muscle tension, promotes flexibility and minimises injuries. Generally, the therapist focuses on the problem area e.g. a frozen shoulder or pulled hamstring, rather than giving a full body massage. Sports massage is a simple, commonly used form of therapy popular in sport. The benefits and effects of sports massage include physical effects such as circulating blood and lymphatic fluids as well as stretching muscle tissue and breaking down scar tissue. There are physiological effects such as reducing pain and relaxing muscles as well as psychological affects which include reducing anxiety levels.
