Glosna House is situated on the N78 south of Athy on the "Kilkenny Road", just 10 kilometres outside Athy town. Kilkenny, Carlow, Kildare and Portlaoise are within a 20 minute drive from the centre. Those travelling from Dublin can expect a 1 hour 15 minute journey through beautiful countryside. 
 
Although our postal address is Athy, Co Kildare we are in fact physically in Laois (where Kildare and Laois border). Bus Eireann (bus number 7 Dublin/Clonmel) and JJ Kavanagh & Sons operate regular bus timetables that pass by Glosna House. The nearest village is Ballylinan.
 
 
Directions to Glosna House  from M50/N7/Athy
 
  • Take exit 9 off the M50  - The N7 (the Naas dual carriage way)
  • Stay on the N7, pass Naas etc
  • Take exit 11 off the N7 for Kilkenny and Waterford
  • You are now on the new motorway
  • Take exit 3 off this motorway for Athy
 
It’s now straight all the way to Glosna, do not take any turns stay on N78
 
  • Go straight through Athy town
  • Go straight through next village called Ballylynan
  • Shortly you will pass a pub on the right hand side called “Pedigree Corner”
  • Glosna house is 2 kilometres passed this pub on N78 (5 houses down)
You will come around a bend and Glosna is the white house on the right hand side
 
Directions to Glosna House  from Carlow
 
  • Follow signs for Portlaois (N80)
  • You will approach the Portlaois roundabout.
  • Take the exit for Portlaois (N80)
  • Stay on the N80 until it naturally comes to an end and meets the N78.
  • You stop at this junction and take the left turn for Kilkenny.
  • Shortly you will pass a pub on the right hand side called “Pedigree Corner”
  • Glosna house is 2 kilometres passed this pub on N78 (5 houses down)
You will come around a bend and Glosna is the white house on the right hand side
 
Directions to Glosna House  from Kilkenny
 
  • Travel on the N78 all the way in the direction of Portlaois/Athy.
 
It’s now straight all the way to Glosna, do not take any turns stay on N78
 
  • You will pass through Castlecomber.
  • You will pass through Newtown.
  • You will pass a run down orange pub on the right hand side for sale
  • As you approach the left turn for 'Wolf Hill', continue straight and Glosna is the first house after that turn on the left hand side. So stright all the way on N78, take no turns and you will find us!
 
Directions to Glosna House  from Portlaois
 
  • Follow signs for Carlow (N80)
  • Pass through Stradbally
  • Stay on the N80 until it naturally comes to an end and meets the N78.
  • You stop at this junction and take the right turn for Kilkenny.
  • Shortly you will pass a pub on the right hand side called “Pedigree Corner”
  • Glosna house is 2 kilometres passed this pub on N78 (5 houses down)
